On Sunday the 17th November The Civic held their Annual General Meeting 2024 and welcomed members of the group, alongside visitors, and local councillors.
Our Annual General Meeting is an opportunity for us to update members of the community about the charity’s performance and achievements of the past year and present the charity’s annual accounts and trustees’ annual report.
Our Trustees Annual Report is published and available to download on the Charity Commission Website
As well as all the normal “official” elements of the Annual General Meeting – elections, finance reporting etc – we also take time to recognise the efforts of our volunteers.
Through the year as the Volunteers add up the hours they contribute and we turn those hours into stars that they can wear on the uniform. Stars are given out at Quarterly Meetings and the hours reset at the Annual General Meeting .
FIVE members received Gold Star Awards for completing 24 shifts during the year.
(Dave isn’t always that grumpy looking but he had been out putting up the Town Christmas Lights so was a little tired)
EIGHT volunteers received Silver Stars for completing 16 shifts during the year.
and NINE Volunteers also received appreciation certificates – These are given out for a variety of reasons but most commonly because of feedback from our visitors or hirers (such as what you give us in our surveys).
And finally, Peter Dillistone was made a Life Member for his contributions to The Civic over the past 15 years. He becomes our fourth Life Member.
Life Members are recognised for the work and effort they have put into The Civic over a sustained period of time, or who have made a significant contribution to the way the Charity operates.
The Annual General Meeting 2024 also saw the election of a new Trustee who brings experience of banking and HR to our board of Trustees.
The next Annual General Meeting will take place in November 2025
