The Civic has recently undergone a significant transformation, with our stage receiving a much-needed upgrade. This project involved countless hours of dedicated work from our incredible team of volunteers. Their tireless efforts included sanding, taping, and repainting the stage boards and crossover, ensuring a fresh and vibrant look for our beloved venue.
To support the team’s hard work, we increased the tea and biscuit budget, providing a well-deserved treat for their efforts. The materials used for the stage renovation were sourced locally from Wigley DIY in Stourport, while additional equipment was rented from HireIt! in Kidderminster.
The stage boards hadn’t been updated since 2014, prior to the Dance Festival that year. Over the years, they have endured significant wear and tear from countless performances, including those by famous faces and local community groups. Dancing, scenery, and other stage elements have put a strain on the boards, making this upgrade essential to maintain the quality and safety of our venue. The paint used is at theatres and venues up and down the country including the Hipprodrome in Birmingham, as well as TV studios and soundstages.
It has a less than 2% reflection value
The crossover had been painted as a cityscape for a Limelight production some years ago, and we liked it so much we kept it.
It has formed the background to a number of photos and videos featuring celebrity and local hero alike. However, it to needed to be replaced and returned to a neutral backdrop.
We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers for their dedication and hard work.
Their efforts have not only improved the appearance of The Civic but have also ensured that our stage is ready to host future events and performances.
